Mercury Vapour Lamps are high power lamps which require no external ballast and are great for larger vivariums. They can be placed a good distance from the animal and still provide the benefit. They are not suitable for small vivariums due to the very high heat output. All heat sources must be contained in a bulb guard if used inside the vivarium and should be connected to a thermostat for added safety.
