See Feeding Guide Tab For Full Info

Akela kibble is extruded with a Thermal Twin extruder using the lowest temperatures possible; producing more digestible foods without the nutrient degradation that can be seen at high temperature processing. The extrusion and drying processes do not use very high temperatures – just over 90 degrees centigrade (the minimum for safety reasons) and under 180 degrees centigrade - this is lower than you would cook a pizza at! This means that proteins stay highly digestible and natural vitamins and minerals survive the process better. Some ingredients are added after extrusion too - for example all vitamin levels stated in the nutritional additive section are added after cooking to guarantee minimum levels.

Wanted a food that was grain free and as natural as possible , without the mess Review by Allun

My Springer/ collie puppy absolutely loves the Akela 80:20. Runs from miles when she hears the tub rattle. Now moving on to medium with no hassle.
Very cost effective if you have a working dog :;)
Minimal amount of debris from the other end, although it tends to attract flies if not collected soon after deposit (Posted on 18 October 2016)

Pros: grain free, very happy pooch, good size kibble, good natural food

Brilliant price, superb product Review by TRACY

My Komondor was extremely picky about her food, was forever
changing brands! Had her on all the more expensive 80/20
dog food but still no joy. I came across this dog food a few months
ago and she loves it. Has never once turned her nose up at it!
The big bonus for me is the price(20 pounds cheaper a bag than other 80/20 dog foods). Would recommend anyone with a fussy dog to try this, you won't be dissappointed. Only one small gripe, the new packaging seems to break easily, the old packaging was much more secure. Thanks (Posted on 10 October 2016)

Pros: grain free, Great value for money, good size kibble

I have been using Akela for a year nearly. My American Bulldog/Staffordshire bull/English Bull terrier shines on it. Her behaviour improved as have her allergies (many). Her energy levels are standard for a Bully mix. She poos what I call 'pickupable', maybe once or twice a day and she doesn't smell. I love my Mica very much and only want the best for her and to my mind food way it's Akela. (Posted on 21 February 2016)

Pros: grain free, good size

The results speak for themselves Review by gin

My high-energy hound loves Akela & looks very good on it. Fed her for a month with another dry food (free sample) mixed in & she noticeably lost coat condition, which returned with the next bag of 'pure' Akela. Have to give it to her in a Kong wobbler or it disappears too quickly - but that's entertainment for us both. Did seem expensive at first, but it's not too bad when you compare the feed amounts & it's worth it for a healthy dog. (Posted on 30 November 2015)

Pros: grain free, very happy pooch, good size kibble, good natural food

Excellent Food at reasonable price Review by Julia

Our 2 boys love the large paws. The Akela 80/20 grain free kibble is the one we have found that suits them. They never leave any, they are always ready for their meal. Prior to finding this brand, our oldest boy (4yrs) has always been picky and fussy. He is no longer and is thriving. It is a joy to see him and his less fussy brother tucking in (Posted on 21 November 2015)

Pros: Attractive, grain free

I look after many dogs and each and everyone of them enjoys this Fine food immensely, some prefer it mixed with a little wet food and some prefer it eaten just on its own.
I have recommended this food to everyone i have met relating to my doggy business and they now use it at home.

I have no problem relating to the size of this kibble nor do any of the dogs which range in size from a Yorkie cross, to Cockapoos and everything in between

needs a large kibble Review by kipper
Price

The price is 5 star as it was a free sample, the ingredients are good and my dog wolfed it down but he is a Labrador who eats anything, however the kibble size is far to small so I will not be purchasing any of this product until they put a large size kibble on the menu.
